I tried today in a shop both Ixus 860 and 870 and actually I must say that I prefer the old one (more intuitive to use). Is it me or they removed the LP (long play) mode on the new one? What about you guys, do u prefer the old 860 or the new 870 and why? Thanks!

    Hi, nice review.
Just a question. Does it fitted with a microphone for the videos? Do you know if some camera, with video possibilities, is fitted with a microphone? Thanks.

I think the SD 880 (Ixus 870 in other regions) is a great camera – see my review at cameralabs . com and the best buys section there…

you would take the SD870 or the new SD880 in all honesty? i’m looking for a new camera this holiday season, and would love to hear your opinion

side note – i do like taking long videos (shows, performances), and things like that. so is the h.246 worth it (the .mov file)? thanks again

The 870 is a good camera, but there’s nothing wrong with the 880. See my review of it at cameralabs . com…

Excellent review. I’ve ordered this camera, and it should arrive tomorrow. I didn’t go with the newer 870 model since I’ve seen some people complain about bad image quality.

Hi everyone, just a quick note to let you know I have a review of the new Canon IXUS 870IS / PowerShot SD 880IS ELPH at cameralabs – this is the replacement to the model featured in this video.

Thanks! PS – if you haven’t already ordered the camera, look out for the new IXUS 870IS / SD 880IS – it’s replacement. And do let us know how CHDK works out for you on the cameralabs forums!

Nice review. I actually learned a little bit about the SD870. I didn’t realize things like grid mode etc. Thanks.
I can’t wait to get my SD870 and install CHDK. Canon should just support CHDK so that they will totally dominate the point and shoot market. :)
